  Horwich St Marys Away

As the game started you could tell that both teams lacked confidence, as they were reluctant to throw bodies forward, but Horwich St Marys seemed to have more of the possession and produced a better footballing display, as Amberswood played a long ball game just trying to get their speedy strikers away.

With Amberswood seem to be defending more often than Horwich St Marys, the breakthrough came with a controvercial offside decision as a through ball was threaded into the amberswood penalty areafor a Horwich St Marys striker to receive it , the striker immediately turned and passed the ball to his partner who was on the edge of the six yard box unmarked and seemed to be in an offside position to the Amberswood defence, but the referee allowed play to go on and he slotted the ball past a helpless Danny Hilton.

The game wasplayed mostly in midfield for the rest of the half, with limited amount of chances, but Amberswood goalkeeper Danny Hilton was the busier goalkeeper.

The second half started much in the same way as the first, but with Horwich St Marys being a goal ahead, they were the more confident team, applying more pressure on the Amberswood defence, without causing them many problems.

With Amberswood trying to change the way the game was going and to avoid another defeat, they changed formation to a 4-3-3 formation to apply more pressure on the Horwich St Mary defence and this seemed to be working. Amberswood manager Phil Atherton made his first change in personnel on the pitch by replacing striker Dean Tomlinson who hadn't had one of his better games for Carl Stocks and within minutes their were two scares for the Horwich St Marys defence as balls were played over the top for the three strikers to chase, and as they broke clear the Horwich St Marys goalkeeeper had to come rushing out from his goal to clear the ball before the Amberswood strikers could get to it.

Amberswood goalkeeper Danny Hilton made two fantastic point blank saves, before Horwich St Mary's scored the second goal to put this game beyond doubt. The goal came because Amberswood pushed more men forward in search of an equaliser, when Horwich St Mary's broke down the left hand side and crossed the ball into the Amberswood box for the striker to volley home from about eight yards out.

Final Score: Horwich St Mary's 2 Amberswood 0 A game Horwich St Mary's deserved to win, a lack of creativity from the Amberswood midfield contributed to them playing a long ball game, which Horwich St Mary's had sewn up.

Man Of The Match: Darren Ainscough who carried the ball out of defence to set up attacks as well as looking comfortable at the back.
