  Newtown Away

The first half started with both teams attacking fluently and frequently and while Newtown were producing the better quality football, it was Amberswood who struck first with their direct style after a long ball kicked from out of his hands by goalkeeper William Hoey reached the opposite end of the pitch and with Antony Whitton making a nuisance of himself caused the Newtown goalkeeper and central defender to colide with each other left the ball loose and Amberswood striker Antony Whitton the only person standing near the ball about five yards out, Amberswood striker Antony Whitton rolled the ball into an empty net.

Over the nextfew minutes, Amberswood looked on top of this game and in control until two moments of madness appeared in the Amberswood defence, involving Shane Clark and goalkeeper William Hoey, the firstone being Shane Clark following a through ball back towards his own goalkeeper, and as goalkeeper William Hoey was about to retrieve it, a Newtown striker got his foot around Shane Clark and nipped the ball past a stranded William Hoey.

The second goal came as a result of another mix-up between the same two players, Shane Clark this time played a bread and butter backpass towards goalkeeper William Hoey who fluffed his clearance straight to a Newtown striker who converted the ball into the net.

The third came from an excellent strike from twenty five yards out, leaving goalkeeper William Hoey no chance, but the damage was done with the fist two goals as Amberswoods confidence was shot to pieces and this game was not a matter of who would win, but how many goals Amberswood would concede.

Newtown added a fourth just before half time.

In the second half Amberswood were on the back foot from start to finish, but only conceded another two goals without reply.

Final Score: Newtown 6 Amberswood 1 A game in which two mistakes decided the outcome and caused the guilty side to put in a very feeble performance.

Man Of The Match: Darren Ainscough The only Amberswood player who kept on trying till the ninetieth minute.
