As the game started Amberswood never woke up and within 15 minutes found themselves 1-0 down after a mix-up between goalkeeper Ben Stocks and Shane Clark resulted in an own goal as Ben Stocks tried to clear a backpass from Shane Clark, the clearance cannoned back off Shane Clark and into the Amberswood net. A second goal came soon after as Amberswood seemed to be at sixes and sevens all over the park when Shane Clark made a rash challenge near the edge of the box, the ref pointed to the spot, which was duly converted.
With Amberswood still reflecting on what had happened, Royal Scott seemed determined to get more goals and with Amberswood feeling low after that terrible start, Royal Scott seemed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and scored a third just before half time with a thirty yard thunderbolt and that really was game over.
Amberswood manager Phil Atherton at half time tried to instill some confidence by quoting to his players in his teamtalk that Royal Scot had two gifts in the first half and that Amberswood could get the goals back. He also made a change in formation and personnel, but to no avail.
Amberswood never really played that badly but further goals were to follow with two from defensive frailty's and a terrible own goal by goalkeeper Ben Stocks from a corner kick.
Ben Stocks made two mistakes which resulted in goals but also made a couple of brilliant saves to keep the scoreline down to eight.
Amberswood tried without success to create chances with Danny Harter, Danny Rigby and Dean Ainscough in midfield and Carl Stocks and Saddegh Ramazani and John Warburton doing all the running up front.
It was only when late substitute Dean Scouler, Amberswood scored a conselation goal as Saddegh Ramazani did all the hard work taking on a relaxed Royal Scot defence, flicking the ball over the last defender and Dean Scouler poised quickly to beat Saddegh Ramazani to the ball to finish it off.
