Within minutes of the first half getting underway Amberswood gifted Woodhouse Athletic the lead after Ben Stocks failed to control the ball with his chest and handled the ball to stop the Woodhouse striker going clean through and conceded a penalty for the first goal. For the first twenty minutes Amberswood looked all over the place at the back and in midfield and with the Woodhouse Athletic winning everything in the air Amberswood conceded a second and third goal. The second goal came as Amberswood failed to clear their lines causing a goalmouth scramble that ended up in the back of the Amberswood net. The third goal came from the penalty spot as Amberswood failed to clear their lines and the Woodhouse Athletic striker controlled the ball and knocked the ball away from Ben Stocks enticing him to make a challenge which he duly obliged and brought the Woodhouse Athletic striker down for a second penalty.
Just before the break Amberswood grabbed some hope and a goal back when they too were awarded a penalty after a Woodhouse Athletic seemed to headbutt Amberswood midfielder, when both players squared upto each other after Sammer Ahmeds trickery inside the box had caused the Woodhouse Defender to throw in a ferocious challenge and foul Sammer Ahmed inside the box, Darren Ainscough converted from the spot.
At half time Amberswood were upbeat and confident that they could possibly get something out of the game, but all those hopes were dashed when Woodhouse scored straight from the kickoff to make it four goals to one. With Woodhouse Athletic seeming to be making all the chances, the result never seemed to be in doubt and a fifth goal came when a Woodhouse Athletic midfielder broke down Amberswoods right hand side with Shane Clark coming to close him down, just inside the box, the Woodhouse Athletic midfielder dropped his shoulder and knocked the ball past Shane Clark and dived over as Shane Clark challenged him and the referee pointed to the spot for a third penalty for Woodhouse Athletic and a fourth in the game. Amberswood down by five goals to one and the result of the game never in doubt brought on a couple of substitutes and a change in formation to regain some kind of respect, which they did as Craig Gilligan scored a second goal for Amberswood before Woodhouse Athletic had scored a sixth and seventh goal and then Amberswood were given a second penalty, the fifth of the game when Antony Whitton was put clear on the right hand side, the Woodhouse Athletic defender chased himback and held him up, Antony Whitton cut back to go inside the defender who took his legs inside the box and Darren Ainscough converted for the second time from the spot, Amberswoods top scorer Payam Doustani was always involved in Amberswoods attacking play, as was willing runner John Warburton.
